Action plan

An action plan should be completed for all patients diagnosed with bronchiectasis to assist with the long term self management of their condition.

It should include their symptoms and management strategies for when they are well and for when their symptoms deteriorate.

Antibiotic choice should be based upon a patients’ previous sputum isolates. If no organisms have been previously identified, a broad spectrum antibiotic should be considered.
